How to Make an Appointment

Appointments can be face to face or on the telephone.

We have both pre-bookable appointments and same-day appointments available, as well as access to booking extended hours appointments in the evenings and at weekends, these may be at another venue, as the appointments are delivered by our Federation and shared with other practices.

To arrange an appointment, please call us on 01509 410800, or pop in to the surgery (please remember to wear a mask) or you may use the 'contact us online' tab on the home page of this website.

You will be asked for a reason for the appointment when you contact us, this is to assist our patient Co-ordinators in directing you to the appropriate Health Professional. This also helps us to prioritise urgent problems, and reduces the waiting time for appointments.

A chaperone service is available during your consultation.

If you would like to take up this offer, then please ask your doctor or nurse.

Home Visits

Please request home visits only when medically unable to attend the surgery. Whenever possible telephone between 08:30 and 11:30 to make your request.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.

Contact Us Online

You can now contact the surgery online to tell us about your non urgent medical problem or ask an administrative question.

You can ask for help anytime, anywhere within the UK, and with any device. Using Online Consultations allows us to quickly and safely decide on the best way to help you, your child, or an adult in your care.

Answer a few short questions and we will aim to respond to your query within 24 - 48 hours during our opening times.

Please do not use this online form for urgent or emergency requests. The submitted forms will only be read during office hours. The forms will not be read on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) or on bank holidays.

New Same Day Access Appointments

From 1 April 2026, GP practices in Leicestershire and Rutland will be able to book patients into new same-day access appointments, replacing existing extended hours appointments during evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

More appointments will be available, offering longer consultation times and at consistent opening times across Leicestershire. NHS 111 and the emergency department will also be able to book patients into the available slots. Appointments will be available:

  • Monday–Friday: 6.30pm–8.30pm
  • Saturdays: 9am–5pm
  • Sundays and bank holidays: 10am–2pm

Appointments will be delivered at the following local sites:

  • Charnwood Surgery (Mountsorrel)
  • The Centre Surgery (Hinckley)
  • Castle Medical Group (Ashby) & Long Lane Surgery (Coalville, alternating weeks)
  • Melton Hospital (Melton Mowbray)
  • Feilding Palmer Hospital (Lutterworth) – weekends only
  • St Luke’s Treatment Centre (Market Harborough)
  • Warren Lane Surgery (Leicester Forest East)
  • Oadby Urgent Treatment Centre (Oadby)

These improvements support the NHS’ two‑step process for getting help with an immediate health concern:

  1. Try self‑care first using the NHS App, NHS 111 online, or a local pharmacy.
  2. If it’s more serious, contact your GP practice or NHS 111. They will arrange the right care, in the right place.

**Appointment's are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis **

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
